Bradley, who prefers the name "Smooth," wanted to increase his exposure down South.

It looks as though IMG Academies is starting to haul in some big-time talent, with Jermaine Bell (from Rochester) the latest addition. The 6-11, 202-pound Bell, who gave St. John’s an oral commitment last year, will head down to Bradenton, Fla., this weekend and enroll in IMG.'

We finished 6-0 and captured the championship. My rising 2 guard Alberto Ortiz (Newtown) averaged 12 pts. a game and our forward Anthony Gibbs averaged 16pts a game and 12 boards. This was our third championship game this summer. We also came in second at the Amsterdam Sports tournament in the city losing to Riverside. 8/28/02 Coach Rodrick C. Bussey, Brooklyn-Queens Warriors: 'We participated in the IronMan Basketball tournament at Riis Park at Rockaway Beach. Because of the terrible weather on Saturday, my team had to play 5 games on Sunday. We ended up with 3 wins. We lost in the semi-finals to a good Virginia team. During the tournament, 2 players performed on a high-level: Marques Damon (Banneker) and Michael Dodd (Edison). Both players are making hugh strides in new capacities. Marques is slowly accepting his role as a point guard. He did a good job of bringing up the ball, setting up the offense, penetrating and distributing the ball. Michael is finally understanding that you have to do more than just shoot jumpshots in a game. He is taking the ball to the basket and more importantly he is rebounding and playing more physical. Don't take my word, come out and see both boys play at the "And 1 Jamfest" at Seton Hall University on 9/22-23.'

Throughout the tournament, the B-Q Warriors were led by Kobiea Powdar (12th grader-F.K. Lane), Chris Vega (12th-grader-F.K. Lane) and Rik Singh (11th-grader-Hillcrest). Rik Singh is about 6'2" and he is playing the point for my team. He is quick, with an improving handle and a good jump shot. He played varsity last year, but this coming year will be his coming out party.'

8/19/02 Love2Ref: 'The Finals were held last night at Rucker Park for "The Golden Hoops Bob McCullough High School Basketball Classic." The Blue Devils were led by Allen Ray (31 points) and Curtis Stinson chipped in with 17 points. Ricky Soliver hit a big jump shot with 5 seconds remaining in the game to seal the win for El Faro. The Elite only brought five players with them so we knew it was going to be a tough game. The Broncos had their usual suspects Kenny Jones, Diego Aguair, Mikail Malik, Danny Hawkins. The Elite had top 100 Oumar Sylla, Gene Selimi, D'Andre Brown, DJ Fields, and Tray Singletary. Sylla was outstanding the entire game by doing it all hitting jumpers from every place, rebounding, blocking shots, and playing defense. DJ Fields played a steady game for the Elite at point getting all of his teammates involved. Genc Selimi continued his good summer, by shooting the ball well and cutting to the basket for layups. D'Andre Brown stepped up and had 22 points with alot of offensive putbacks. Tray Singletary played well on the defensive end and hit some key foul shots down the stretch. The game was close throughout with the Elite leading by two at the half. They went up as much as 9 points in the second half before the Broncos came storming back. The game went into OT, where a questionable call by the ref fouled out the Elite's star Oumar Sylla. With 4 players the Elite played smart basketball and did not fold under the Bronco pressure for the last 2 minutes and won by the score of 68-64. Oumar Sylla was named MVP and Diego Augiar of the Bronco's won the sportsmanship trophy. This is New York Elite's fourth championship of the season.'

8/7/02 NorthJersey: Marquis Webb's list a bit shorter?

8/7/02 Hoop Scoop: 'The verbal commitments just keep right on coming, as ... 6'8 Will Sheridan from Hockessin (Sanford) DE to Villanova, 6'3 Marquis Webb from Paterson (Catholic) NJ to Georgia Tech, and 6'11 Darryl Watkins from Paterson (Catholic) NJ to Villanova have either already made it official or are expected to do so today. ... if the Cardinals (Louisville) can also get 6'7 Nate Daniels from Broward County (JC) FL, who also is ranked among the top five junior college players in the nation, and 7'3 Shargi Alleyne from New York (Rice) NY, who is a project right now, but has a big upside, then we would probably be talking about the top ranked recruiting class in the nation.'

8/7/02  Coach Rock Eisenberg: 'Nate Daniels (class of 2003) the '6''8" Juco All-American 2 guard who avg. 31 ppg last year at Broward CC for coach Bob Starkman has narrowed his list of schools down to Louisville, St. John's, Texas Tech, Duquesne, American University, and Florida International. Nate has been recruited by every major college in America. Nate spent one year as a red-shirt at Fresno State before transferring last year to play for coach Starkman at Broward CC. For our New York/ New Jersey friends - just think a 6'8" 210 lb. Quincy Douby with even more range and potential. Nate will play next year at Broward CC and then have two years at whatever school he decides to attend.'
