He had a memorable game in the semifinals of the James Kay Holiday Tournament at Hackensack HS last December, leading his undersized team to a near-upset of Teaneck HS. Archibald scored 29 points in the second half and finished with a game-high 34 points and 5 assists, making 6-of-12 from beyond the arc.'

8/29/03 NJO: St. Benedict's star J R Smith headed to North Carolina

8/29/03 Antonio Cannon Sr: 'Lefrak City ClassicTop Teams After Week (7) By Division on the Lefrak City Summer Basketball Classic page.'

8/29/03 Coach Wee Francis: 'Congratulations to Tavon Sledge a.k.a Tavon Dickerson. Tavon, received MVP at the Damon Dash tournament for the 11& under while representing the Church. Tavon represented Wee Allstars in the Marbury classic. He's one of the best point guards in the city right now for this age group. Rumor has it that he might attend Mount Carmel.'

8/28/03 Coach Wee Francis: 'Wee all-stars vs. Brooklyn Bridge for the Ron Artest championship in the 13 & under division this Friday at Queens Bridge projects located at 21st Ave and 47th street. The game is set to jump off at 6p.m. This game will show case some of the best 13 & under players in the city. This is truly going to be one of the best games of the summer for this age group.'

8/28/03 Coach Rudy King: 'Tomorrow night (Friday, August 29 - 6:30PM) at the Ron Artest Tournament in Queens Bridge, New York (41st Ave. & 21st St.) rain or shine.  Many of New York's finest 13/u ball players will be competing in the championship game which features the Brooklyn Bridge Vs. Wee All-Stars. The skill level of many of these players is far beyond their years and trust they will be hyped for this match up. Indiana Pacer, Ron Artest will be on hand to present the awards for his second year summer tournament which is destined to become one of New York's Premier basketball showcases. If you remember "King Towers" this is the reincarnation but with younger talent. The kids love playing here and you better have your "A" game because the spectators will be on your back.

Earlier in the season, the Bridge shocked Wee All-Stars in a high energy, action packed ball game which opened up with the underdog Bridge dominating the game with intense full court pressure, the soft touch of lefty scoring machine Brandon Romain and the strong play of Devon Elliott, Vincent Council, Joe Swift, Jerrell Antley and Russell Braithwaite. The talented Wee All-Stars battled right back and took the lead for the first time midway and through the 3rd. Trailing going into the 4th, the Bridge applied some vice grip pressure swung the momentum and never looked back to win by (9). This rivalry is so incredible that you would think that it was the Lakers / Boston series of the early 90's. Here are some of the players scheduled to compete:   13/u Brooklyn Bridge - Brandon Romain, Lance Stephens, AJ Rogers, James Johnson, Vincent Council, Devon Elliott, Russell Braithwaite, Joe Swift, Andrew Shepperd, Jerrell Antley, Devon Robinson.  13/u Wee All-Stars  - Lenny McNeil (Team Next), Dre Calloway (Dre' Gauchos), MoMo (Abyssinian), Truck (Gauchos), Zameon Price (Zay' Team Roc).

8/28/03 Antonio Cannon Sr: 'The T.K. Allstars 14u Midget team ventured up to Harlem last evening for a semifinal contest at Young World summer league against Grant Houses. We put up a great fight, leading the game by 14pts, without four of our key players (Jerrell Mckie, Danny Sanchez, Duran Velesquez, and James Mutulu). Shaun Willoughby was giving Grant all they could handle, until he picked up an offensive foul and ended up with a nasty gash under his chin. The gash wouldn't stop bleeding for the entire third quarter and several minutes of fourth quarter. Too much Kashif Pratt down the stretch as we let another semifinal contest slip away from us. Grant Houses defeated us 45-38! Special thanks to Mo Hicks and his staff at Young World, for a well ran competition. The play by play commentator did an outstanding job on the mike. Mr. Wee Francis, thanks for recommending the competition for our ball club. Great job by our roster: Justin Davis, Deytwan Hill, Jerrell McKie, Victor Caputo, Danny Sanchez, Shaun Willoughby, Antonio Cannon, Jr., Pernell Green, Duran Velesquez, James Mutulu. Five 2003 summer tournaments in the history books: Avirex 2nd place. Adidas Student Athletics 2nd Place. Show Me What You Got 1st place Champions! UDC & Young World Sports 3rd place respectively. Keep your heads up team, lets concentrate on defending our title @ the Lefrak City Summer Classic for the third year in a row!'

8/26/03 Coach Carlton Screen (FYA):'We have just returned from the Prime TimeBasketball Camp. There were 30 of our players playing games, and working on their basketball skills. It was a great experience for our younger players, they were away for six days, having some real fun. We had at least 2 players on each of the camp championship teams, in each division. On returning back to Brooklyn, I am part of the Taskforce for City Councilwoman Evette Clarke, which sponsored on Sunday August 24, at Wingate Park, The Youthfest 2003, FYA had 20 plus players helping in the cause, giving their support. 8/22/03 Coach Willie Negron: 'Gunhill Semifinals -- I just wanted to thank the Willie Howie Allstars for a very long and tough tournament that they just lost to Dyckman by the score of 78-43. All summer long these men had to go through some tough games either winning by one or losing by 35. The semifinal game was a rematch from last year when the WillieHowie upset Dyckman and went to the championship and lost a tough game to Bronx Kings. The Willie Howie dug themselves a hole early and could not get out. Dyckman took it right to us early by getting great passing strong defense and a lot of inside looks. They led by the score of 47-17 at halftime and never looked back. However the Willie Howie made a run of their own by getting fast break baskets by Darin David from Monroe Campus and Ronald Crippen cut into the lead by going on 12-6 run and trailed by the score of 54-29 with 4.09 in the third quarter. The following players are given special thanks for finishing 4-4: Davaugh Vaugh, ParkWest senior,  Ronald Crippen, junior Monroe Campus,  Darin David who finished with 11 points junior Monroe Campus,  Sam Jenkins, Adephi bound went to Murray Bertgruam , senior George Lopez Truman,  AustinWallace, sophomore South Bronx, Riccardo Buckridge Monroe Campus senior, ElfegoBoyd A.E.Smith senior Joseph Minton junior Monroe Campus and my assistant coaches James Harrison and Malcolm Williams. 8/19/02 TimesUnion: Tiki Mayben rejected. CBA denies Troy star's application to transfer.

8/19/02 B. Henderson: 'To all of the officials who I have watched this summer, some good, some bad and some who don't have a clue, I would like to say that maybe I'm a little old fashioned when it comes to players and their uniforms, but I am tired of viewing the color of a player's underwear and in some cases even more. On Sunday as I was watching a game at the UDC playoff there was a player whose attire was a little on the extreme side. Not only were his playing shorts completely below his behind but they were also below his crotch. So if you didn't get a back view you got the full frontal. Several spectators made mention of this to me so I politely ask the referee if it was possible to have the young man to adjust his shorts and his reply was, " That is the least thing on my mind ". I was really blown back by his answer. Hopefully the TV cameraman edited it from his film. Perhaps the refs aren't in charge anymore or maybe some of them just don't care. I think that SUBOA should address this issue with their officials and be more selective in who they assign to represent them. Will the next player try to duplicate this or will many others follow suit? Are some refs letting things get out of control by turning a blind eye? In every sport that I am familiar with, there is a dress code including basketball. I can understand that this is a summer league and players get hot and sweaty, but not to that extreme. The ref could have politely asked the player to correct his shorts and if he didn't, then the team as well as the coach should have been given a warning, then a technical if it was not corrected. I know of several states where the captains are told this in advance so when the player get the tech, they know why....'

8/9/03 Bob Starkman: 'I always read the kind words Coach Rock Eisenberg has for others. I would like to share a thought about mya good friend who is a great "basketball fixture" in New York City and a great player he has sent to my program. Over a year ago. Coach Rock Eisenberg called me about a potential student athlete named Adrian Uter. Rock promised me after his second year at Broward Community College, Adrian should be recruited by some Division I programs. Well, Rock was right, but his timing was off. Adrian Uter, a product of Springfield Gardens H.S. led all NJCAA Division I programs in rebounding at 17.1rpg along with 16ppg. He is now being recruiting by Texas Tech, Hofstra, American University, Hawaii, High Point University, College of Charleston along with several ACC schools. Adrian who has grown to 6-7 and 215 pounds excels on and off the court. That was not enough. Rock then sent me his former Tilden assistant Steve Davis. Without Steve we would not have had the success that we had. Once again Rock came through sending St Johns P/G Chris Bernard and Tildens P/F Andre King along with Aaron Harvey of Robeson H.S. They will all add to the NYC contingent of Adrian Uter, Brian Williams (CTK) and August Martin's Jenar Harrison. Keep up the great work!'

8/6/03  Rob WIlliams: 'The Bistate Pythons are champions at the Springfield Rifles’ 2003 “Go Hard or Go Home” in the 14 and under division defeating North Babylon. The boys were a pleasure to coach, offensively they were unselfish almost to a fault, and keyed by a consuming trap defense they rarely allowed opponents to get into their offensive sets. Thanks again to Akeem Brightman - August Martin, Chris Abney - Jamaica, Darryl Washington - Bishop Loughlin, Corey White - Van Buren, Darwin Lynch - John Adams, Marcus Berry - Benjamin Cardozo, Roberto Corrente - St. Mary’s, Marcel Bowie - Stone Mountain, Ga., Malik Haynes , Roosevelt “Nuky” Cobb - Francis Lewis, Trinity “Triny” Gibbs - Fields -MS 192, Justin Newton - MS 238, Nathaniel “Butter” Wilson - MS 192, Stacy Campbell - Campus Magnet.'

8/5/03 Coach Willie Negron: 'Three Willie Howie players took a Greyhound from New York to Robert Morris University so they could get better at 5-Star Basketball Camp where the teaching never stops. Gary Houston, Fabian Figueroa and Elfego Boyd knew that it was not going to be easy dealing with 520 campers and hot and rainy days. Gary and Fabian are in there second year with Willie Howie Allstars while Elfego is finish ing his first year. During the week they had to go through tough morning stations for two hours and then games and great afternoon speakers, such as DickVitale from ESPN, Toronto Raptors head basketball coach Kevin O'Neill and the assistant basketball coach of Memphis Grizzlies, Brendan Brown, son of  Hubie Brown. Gary Houston made the Orange and White Classic by scoring 25 points in a losing effort in a tough playoff going 3-3 from long three point range, 4-4 from free throw line and 6-6 with jumpshots. His fellow Willie Howie teammates also play very well by getting great passing from Fabian and strong rebounding from Elfego. Thanks to the 5-Star staff and trainers for keeping the players together and teaching them how to get better.'

8/4/03 Rob WIlliams Bistate Pythons: 'Regarding Tamien Trent -- I saw this kid light up my nephew's Monroe squad with his "triple threat" this winter, hitting the 3 beyond pro range, attacking the basket, getting and making his "and 1", forcing turnovers, with a lot of freshmen support. Monroe was in shock, blowing their big lead and the game from the freethrow line. I can't believe Hofstra is not looking at this kid, he would be their answer to Apodaca.'
