1/31/04 Coach Antonio Cannon Sr: 'The T.K. Allstars took it on the chin against The 80 Park Rise Panthers last night @ IS8 in the Junior 16u division. The game was close for the first half, 80 Park opened the 3rd quarter with a three point field goal on the first play, and never looked back. The relentless 80 Park full court pressure, wore T.K. down, some costly turnovers and outstanding shooting by 80 Park but the game away in the 3rd quarter. Coach Kat, and his 80 Park Panthers must have took exception to my challenge posted on this site two weeks ago. To my good friend Coach Jeff Rivera, and his Team Genesis Ball Club. We knew it could down to this, the stage has been set! See you guys next Thursday, our playoff life depends on defeating you guys! Need I say more? lol...'

1/25/04 Coach Rock Eisenberg: 'I wanted to take this chance to write something about one of my former players. His name is Michael George and he was the captain of our 1992-93 semifinal team that was led by All City selection Ed Cota. Michael George was the first of 12 student athletes who I have helped go to Brandeis University in the past 10 years. Michael's success in the Transitional Year Program at Brandeis opened up the door for all the rest of our young men and women to get a chance to attend this world class university for free. While at Brandeis Michael worked for the Boston Celtics, who have their training camp at Brandeis. When Michael graduated from Brandeis he had a chance to stay on with the Celtics, go to work in his family's funeral business in South Carolina or follow his heart and come back to Brooklyn to help the youngsters of our city as a teacher and coach. Mike came back home and now teaches at PS 181 in Brooklyn and has done a wonderful job with our Girls Varsity Basketball Team at Tilden H. S. At this time Mike's kids need one more win to qualify for the PSAL playoffs. When and if they make it, it will be the first time in at least ten years that our boys and girls teams have made the playoffs in the same year. However the success on the court that Michael has had is only part of why I am so proud of him. Watching him lead his young ladies in the right direction at all times and watching the love and respect they have for him makes me smile whenever I see this true, positive role model teach and coach.  Michael George is a real hero in my eyes.'

1/24/04 Coach Ron Dennis of K.Y.D.A. 'Martin Van Buren Boys Varsity Basketball Team has a record 10 wins and 2 losses. Van Buren has a few players that are playing extremely well. 5' 9" P.G. Jason Plenty has plenty to smile about this season because he can pass the ball and rack up assist after assist. Jason is averaging a double- double and Martin Van Buren ( The Vee Bees) has 2 bookend players that are posting impressive numbers as well ( scoring, rebounds and blocked shots ). 6' 7" senior center Craig Davis is causing many problems for opponents most afternoons because Craig's 260 lbs frame enables him to be almost automatic in the paint. 6' 6" 240 lbs senior P.F. William Egwu makes for double trouble as Will complements Craig by roaming from highpost to low post. Tonight Van Buren host cross town rival Far Rockaway H.S. 9 wins & 3 losses and one of those wins were against Van Buren. This contest is for second place in conference play. Coaches from NYCAC CACC and NE10 conferences should watch for Van Buren during the NYC PSAL Playoffs,'

Local college coaches are overlooking Will Borgolte. As of now he is leading the CHSAA in scoring, the toughest High School league in the country. He captured 2 tournament MVP awards, and at 6'5", can shoot the ball with anyone in our league. Will finishes around the basket and puts the ball on the floor well.
