February, 2004 2/29/04 The champions have been decided at Winter IS8. The Riverside Church biddies doubled the Gauchos 73-35, the Team Next midgets outlasted Rock Steady 81-75 and 80 Park took the junior game 90-80 against Rock Steady. Details on the IS8 Winter page. 2/29/04 JC Davidson: 'I'd like to congratulate Amityville on their Suffolk "A" title. Senior AJ Price (Connecticut) had 34 points and 15 rebounds in a tough win over Kings Park and junior point guard Mike Crisci had 32 points and 10 rebounds. Although Amityville seemed to have a lot of trouble containing Crisci at times, their team looked unstoppable much of the game. I expect Amityville to head up to states and give everyone a run. AJ plays AAU with Kenny Pretlow's Riverside Church Team. Crisci plays AAU with Glen Steinberg's Warriors Team. One last congratulations to Jack Agostino who has shown once again how he can outcoach the competition while his team outplays them.' 2/29/04 Coach Kevin Pigott: 'Yesterday at Mount St. Michael in the Bronx, there were some very good playoff games besides St. Raymond's and Rice. With the two big men altering all the shots in the paint, it will be very difficult to beat this team without getting them into foul trouble. There is not a big enough award or plaque you can give Burt Beagle. The treasure of CUNY Baseball and Basketball. I had the pleasure to meet Coach Beagle while coaching at Lehman College and ever since, Burt has being instrumental in my maturity and growth as a coach and as a human being. He has being a mentor, teacher and father figure to me and the many other high school, college players and coaches that have had the blessing to meet this great man. In a world where war and terror seems to take up the spotlight.
