IS8's Hassan Jennings and Anthony Myers picked their biddy first team: William Williams, Steven Whittingham, Ryan Person, Tyriek Johnson and Kevin Perron.  Web note: Hempstead's Koryet Hollingside had 27 against Riverside and 15 against 80 Park during the season but was a no show for the playoffs. Josh Malone led North Babylon and David Turner the Future Legends during the season.

The 80 Park trio of wing J.J. Garvin (22 points and pictured left with his MVP trophy), center Terrence Howard and point guard Malik Boothe (17) bested Abyssinian's quartet of Malcolm Pope (19, pictured left and featured in MSG Network's Angles high school recruiting show), Justin Rivers (18), Jamie Harris (9) and Kafele Carty (8).

SONDAY Express dominated Abyssinian Church in the semis but 80 Park was a different story as they cruised to a 68 - 53 victory. A close 30 - 27 halftime game then turned into a rout for MVP Chris Martin (21) and friends.

3/1/03 It was 80 Park day at IS8 today as each of their teams won semifinal games to make it to tomorrow's championship. The Gauchos gored the Church 55 - 33 in the first Biddy game and 80 Park strolled by Abyssinian 53 25 in the other semi.  The 'chos Kevin Parron led them with 16 and Deron Lamb chipped in 10.  Point guard Anthony Given only had 3 but he controlled the action.  For 80 Park William Williams (12), Isaiah Monton (12) and Steve Whittingham (10) notched double digiits while center Ryan Pearson was a force inside on both offense and defense. Hempstead's Erik Jones (9) and Omar Rios (8) missed their team's leading scorer, Koryet Hollingside who had scored 27 in an earlier game against Riverside.

The third game matched Team Next with 80 Park and Team Next led for most of the game before fourth quarter. That's when Malik Boothe (17) took over and 80 Park took a 52 - 46 victory. JJ Garvin chipped in with 14. Ashton Gibbs led Team Next with 15, Ervin Walker had 10, but it wasn't enough.

The fourth game went to overtime, tied at 53. With 14 seconds to go and Abysinnian leading 61 - 59 Ian Umpierre missed the second of two free throws Abyssinian made one and won 63 - 61. Ian (16) also missed his first fourth quarter free throw but made made eight straight to keep his team in the game after their star center, Vinny Natal (14) fouled out in the fourth quarter. Malcolm Pope had 20 for Abyssinian, Kafleli Quatry scored 10 and Jamie Harris with 8 had most of the key plays late in the game.  When it gets to crunch time Pete Edwards says, 'Who wants the rock now?'  Luckily for Abyssinian, Jamie ded.
