IS8 -- address is 108-35 167th St. Jamaica, Queens just off  Merrick Blvd on 167 St and 108th Avenue. 

2/29/04 Biddy division (12 and under)  -- The Gauchos' Shaquille Stokes (right) scored a game high 23 points and got the Sportsmanship award.  He may have been the best player on the court in the Biddy championship game and he single handedly kept his team in the game as the 'chos trailed only 29-22 at halftime.

But the Church Biddies are too deep. Team MVP Tevon Sledge (21 and near left)) got numerous second half fast break layups as the Church's front line of Lenny Toussant (18), Davontay Grace (13 pictured above to the right of Lenny) and Aaron Brown (13) dominated as Shaq tired and the Gaucho point guard, Shane Southwell (4), was held in check. 

Shane was a bigger factor in yesterday's semifinal game as he had 13 to complement Shaq (20) and Phillip Martin (16) for an easy 56-30 win against Positive Direction. The Church beat their B team 51-34 behind Davontay (13), Lenny (12) and Tavon (9).

Midget division (14 and under)-- Team Next extended a six point halftime lead to sixteen after three quarters and held on for the 81-75 victory behind a game high 27 points from their MVP point guard, Erving Walker (left).  He is still tiny (about 5'4) and still awesome. He handles, shoots lights out and passes beautifully - he's a pleasure to watch. Teammates Ashton Gibbs (20), Lance Stephenson (14 points and a grade lower than the other players) and Lenny McNeil (10) each benefited from Erving's skill.  Meanwhile Brandon Romain (18 and pictured right), Vincent Council (16), Nigel Henderson (13 bur saddled with early foul trouble) and Devon Elliot (13) made a game of it for Rock Steady.

RS got to the championship game with a 65-54 win vs.80 Park in yesterday's semifinal game. Nigel Henderson (game high 25), Brandon Romain (13), Vincent Council (11) and Jojo Swift (8 points and the best name in the championship weekend) bested 80 Park's Kevin Dean (16), Daniel McFadden (16) and Sylvan Landesberg (11).  Team Next almost doubled Impact 76-40 in the other semi as Erving (17) and Lenny (15) were high for their team. 

Junior division (16 and under) --  80 Park led by five, eight and fourteen in the first three quarters before notching the wire to wire 90-80 victory behind MVP, Stephen (Sticks) Wood (15, pictured left), Rob Hampton (21), Wes Frederique (13, Wes has transferred from Bishop Loughlin to Cardozo, where he may be starting next season) and Hickman Simmons (9).  Darius Gabriel (17, pictured right), Oshamar Planes (15), Jamin Peterson (13) and Rashid Isler (9) kept it close for Rock Steady.

RS made it to the championship with a stellar defensive effort against Next Level in the semis.  Antwan Gibson (17) and Jamin Peterson (13) keyed the 43-37 effort as NL's Zamar Nixon (7), Douglas Antone (7), Brian Elesma (6) and Quasim Pugh (6) were all held in check.  80 Park took the Gauchos in their semifinal tilt as Rob Hampton (15 and pictured), Steven Wood (10), Hickman Simmons (9) and Nick Reynolds (9) each contributed.

2/3/04 Ronnie Rogers: 'I have a couple of children I would like you to look at. You might want to look at Justin Bennett, 6"1 forward, and James Johnson, 5"4 PG on the Impact  biddies' team.  Impact is playing in the I.S. 8 tournament Saturday, February 7 at 2:30 p.m. This is the last regular scheduled game. Playoffs begin next week.'

1/12/04 Antonio Cannon Sr: 'The T.K.Allstars 15 Junior team opened up its winter season at IS8 on Friday night, with a 55-53 loss to Carlton Sreen, Sr. and his FYA program. The game was close throughout, a couple of costly turnovers down the stretch, and a clutch shot by FYA sealed the deal in their favor. This loss could prove to be costly, as every game @ IS8 counts! Up next for the T.K. Allstars are Riverside Church, followed by 80 Park, and concluding with Team Genesis. Top three teams in the four team division makes the playoffs!

The T.K.Allstars Junior 16u division roster @ IS8 is Antonio Cannon Jr., Deytwan Hill, Justin Davis, Jerrell McKie, Shaun Willouby, David Halloway, Danny Sanchez, Victor Caputo and Delawn Miller.'
