8/16/04 The Gaels jumped to an early 22-14 first quarter lead and never looked back as MVP Danny Green (33) and younger brother Rashad (16) led them to a 90-77 championship win versus the TK All Stars. Tyson Johnson and Tyrone Hanson each had 8 points for the victors as Gilbert Montalvo added seven assists in only fourteen minutes of play. St Mary beat Team Underrated in the one semi 95-77 while TK just got past the Running Rebels 69-66 in the other semi.

The league's top ten scorers were Danny Green (St Mary 28.8), Brandon Matthews (NYC Finest 26.3), Rashad Green (St. Mary 22.0), Tony Dennison (TK All Stars 21.9), Drew Gladstone (JYO 20.2), Mike Marin (Running Rebels 20.2), Marvin Roberts (Holy Cross 18.7), Lance Stephenson (Team Next 17.7), Stevic Pickens (TGT Warriors 17.2) and Vernon Teal (Holy Cross 17.0).

8/6/04 Coach Antonio Cannon Sr: ' The T.K. Allstar 16u team IS8 championship hopes were destroyed by the St. Mary's H.S. team last night 90-77. St. Mary's outplayed us on both ends of the floor, as the defense of their front line, forced us into a jump shooting team. We fought the good fight, but were clearly overmatched. Shaun Willoughby had an outstanding offensive game finishing with 33pts, and the losers MVP trophy. Justin Davis did an outstanding job battling the huge St. Mary's front line with 18 rebounds, and 10pts. Deytwan Hill finished with 16pts (four three pointers), Tony Dennison chipped in 14pts. 6 rebounds.

Tonight we face the Rise Panthers another tough opponent in the semifinals of the Nike Swoosh Queens competition. The game will be played at IS8 108rd off Merrick Blvd. at 7:00pm, the winner will play for the Queens Nike Swoosh championship on Saturday at 12:00pm @ Roy Wilkins Park located at Baisely Blvd. & Merrick Blvd.'

8/5/04 Coach Antonio Cannon Sr: 'The T.K. Allstars 16u team defeated the Running Rebels 69-63 in the semifinals @ IS8 last night. Justin Davis 21pts., 6 Rebounds, Deytwan Hill 19pts. (5 three pointers), Tony Dennison 16pts, 4 rebounds. The win advances us to the championship game Thursday, night @ 7:00pm vs. the winner of the St. Mary's/Team Underrated semifinal. Down six with under a minute to go in the contest, the team showed a lot of character and determination pulling this one out.'

8/2/04 Pete Edwards: 'Remaining IS8 playoff schedule is 8/2 6:30pm Running Rebels vs NYC Finest (A), 8/2 8pm Hard Knocks vs Team Underrated.  8/3 6:30 St. Marys vs Holy Cross. Semi-finals: 8/4 6:30 TK Allstars vs Running Rebels - NYC Finest (A) winner, 8/4 Winners from Team Underrated - Hard Knocks and St. Marys - Holy Cross. Championship game is on 8/5 at 7pm.'

7/29/04 Antonio Cannon Sr: 'The T.K. Allstar 16u team advanced to the semifinals @ IS8 by defeating Team Next last night 99-60. Six players reached double figures: Justin Davis another outstanding all around game 21pts, 11rebounds, 7 steals, 3 block shots and 4 assists, Shaun Willoughby 18pts, Antonio Cannon Jr. 17pts. 6 assists, Deytwan Hill 15pts, 3 steals, 3 assists. Johnnie Bonds 13pts., 10 rebounds, Tony Dennison chipped in 15pts, 5 rebounds, and two block shots. Outstanding team effort on both ends of the floor.'

7/16/04  Coach Dre, Team Underrated: 'At I.S. 8 we lost to Holy Cross by the score of 76-68. Without 3 starters we played well enough to steal the win. Holy Cross is a good scoring team that forced us to play a different style of basketball that we are not use to playing. We were led by Humzah Hakim with 17 pts., 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. Sadraac Numa had 18 pts. 3 assist and 4 rebounds. Raymond Jones (freshman) contributed with 12 pts. 2 rebounds 1 steal and 2 blocks. Luke Robinson chipped in with 6 pts. and 3 rebounds. We finished the regular season at 3-1 and finished #1 in our pool.'

7/13/04 Antonio Cannon Sr: 'Last night the 16u T.K. Allstars improved to 2-1 in IS8 play, by defeating my good friend and fellow coach Rob Diaz, and his NYC Finest ball club 77-65. Tony Dennison led all scorers with 22pts., 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Shaun Willoughby 18pts. 6 steals and 3 assists. Antonio Cannon Jr. added 15pts. & 3 assists. Our fourth and final regular season game to determin playoff seeding @ IS8 will be played on Monday, July 19th against the Springfield Riffles. The win will give us the #1 seed in the South division of the competition. A loss could possibly put us in harms way, as the South division race is pretty tight!'

7/9/04 Coach Dre: 'At IS8 last night Team Underrated 17-under team beat TGT Warriors 4 Christ 58-46. We had a comfortable lead going into the 4th quarter when TGT came back within 8 points. The win pushes Team Underrated record to 3-0 in the I.S. 8 Summer Tournament. Team Underrated was led by (6'5) Humzah Hakim and (6'5) Melvin Clarida. They both combined for 31 points, 23 rebounds and 9 blocks. Sadraac Numa contributed 11 points and 7 assist. Chris Barber (freshman) sparked our defense with 4 steals and 11 points. The other notable of the game was Raeen Coward with 4 points, 5 blocks and 5 rebounds. Next game is Thursday July 15th at 8:00 PM against Holy Cross.'

7/8/04 Antonio Cannon Sr: 'The T.K. Allstars 16u boys team -- In IS8 action we dropped our first game to Holy Cross on Tuesday night 57-50. Antonio Cannon Jr., led with 20pts. and 10 assists. Deytwan Hill chipped in 15pts.'

6/29/04 Coach Michael Moore, Team Next: 'My 14 under team is playing in the IS8 17 under division and we are 2-0, having just beaten Hard Knocks 61-57 behind our frontcourt of Lance Stephenson (18 points), Kalif Staton (12 points, 14 rebounds, 6 blocks) and Vincent Rogers (14 points, 14 rebounds, 10 blocks - Vincent is up from Georgia for the summer). Our backcourt of Erving Walker (7 points, 8 assists) and Ashton Gibbs (4 points) did a great job of distributing the ball.'

On Monday, 7/19 the Rifles play TK Alstars at 6:30 and the TGT Warriors 4 Christ play Pro-bound at 8:00. The playoffs begin the following evening, on Tuesday, 7/20, with the top 3 teams from each pool.

5/29/04 Peter Edwards: 'The IS8 Summer League will begin in approximately 3 weeks. The summer league will be returning High School 17 and under, can't turn 18 this year.
