Twelfth Annual PSAL James P. Sullivan Basketball Exposure Games

Eleventh Annual Games.


9/30/04 Newsday: High on hoops, grades. At Sullivan Games, emphasis is not only on basketball ability, but having academic credentials for college.

 
Andre Tarver (left) is the Wings Academy 6-2 junior guard who averaged 21 points per game last season for coach Tony Bergeron and will be an important part of one of the PSAL's top teams next season.

Amaury Fermin (right) is the John F Kennedy senior point guard, who averaged 24 points per game last season. Amaury is the leader of coach Johnnie Mathis' B'ballers IS8 entry.

Jonathan Rosado (left) is the 6-0 Morris point guard who last season averaged an impressive triple - 17.4 points per game. 5.9 rebounds and 5.6 assists. 

Ivan Rodriguez (right) averaged 15.7 points.and 4.8 rebounds per game. for Frederick Douglass Academy last season as one of five junior starters (see Corey Lyons below).

Darren Townes (left) is the 6-5 Manhatten Center forward who averaged 10 points and 9.5 rebounds last season. Darren and 6-5 MC forward Joe Edwards are playing for the Bingo All Stars at IS8 this fall. 

Darian David (right) has his head up as the 5-11 James Monroe point guard who averaged 21 points per game last season. He's playing at IS8 this fall for LPAC.

Michael Glover (left) is Anthony's younger brother, the 6-4 James Monroe junior forward who averaged 10.9 points and 9.7 rebounds for the Eagles last season. He was a late addition to the roster and is a probable D1 prospect for next season. 

Corey Lyons (right) is a 6-4 Frederick Douglass senior wing who averaged 15.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game last season. Corey, Ivan Rodriguez (above), Damani Corbin, Stephen McKoy and Kevin Linares each started last season for FDA's and coach Pat Magnan's Lions.

Curtis Kelly (left), Edgar Sosa and Kashief Pratt (the Rice, Gauchos Three Amigos) were at Riverbank to watch their PSAL buddies. I considered starting a rumor that all three were transferring to Lincoln, but then I realized I need to be invited back to next year's Sullivan games. 

Owen Brow (right) is the 6-3 Morris guard who averaged 18.7 points and 10.3 rebounds a game for the 14-0 Bronx B Bulldogs. As coach Ruben Taverez has reminded us, Owen is playing for LPAC at IS8 this fall.

9/28/04 Monday night - Boys Brooklyn/Queens/Staten Island Teams - 12 ten man teams. 

 
Vernon Teel (upper left) is the 6-2 Flushing Red Devil wing who returns this season as the PSAL's leading scorer; he averaged 27.5 ppg. and 11 rpg. last season. 

Jacek Ratajczak (upper right) is the 7-0 Bryant junior center, who played in seven games last season, his first in organized basketball. Jacek also plays on Bryant's volleyball team.

Melvin Clarida (lower left) is the 6-5 Springfield Garden forward who averaged 14.6 ppg. and 5.9 rpg. for a 4-12 Golden Eagle team that was often overmatched last season. Mel is playing for Coach 'Dre and Team Underrated this fall at IS8. 

James Gilmore (lower right) is the Boys and Girls 5-11 guard who averaged 7.2 ppg. for the 'roos last season. This fall James is on the Starret City roster at IS8.

9/27/04 Coach Pat Torney: '12th Annual Sullivan Games begin tonight for Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island boys at Riverbank State Park, (145 Street and Riverside Drive, Manhattan) with game times beginning at 5 pm. Rosters are at PSAL.org.'
