11/3/04 Steve Servold: 'I wanted to congratulate the following NYC players that made opening day NBA rosters for the first time - Royal Ivey (Cardozo H.S. & Blair Academy NJ)-Atlanta Hawks, Luis Flores (Norman Thomas H.S.)-Golden St Warriors, Andre Barrett (Rice H.S.)-Houston Rockets and of course Sebastian Telfair (Lincoln H.S.)- Portland Trailblazers. Flores & Barrett will start out on IR but they will get their shot. I must also mention Smush Parker (Newtown H.S.) -Detroit Pistons. Smush again battled the odds of being a non-guaranteed free agent invitee and made the world champion Pistons. He did this back in 2002-03 with the Cleveland Cavs as well. When given the chance Smush was fantastic this preseason.

For those who don't know me, my name is Steve Servold and I have just finished writing the most complete book on New York City high school basketball entitled The History of New York City High School Basketball. It covers the years from 1980-2006. The book has over 2500 players in it and has everything you could imagine regarding hoops in the 5 boroughs. For every player (I have the top 100 players or so for each year ranked) it lists the high school, prep school if they attended one, junior college if they attended, and college/university. It also shows the highest level of pro ball (NBA, CBA, NBDL, USBL) they reached. I am hoping to have it in all media outlets by next summer. It also has sections on the top point guards each year, top jc players each year, McDonald & Parade All Americans, PSAL, CHSAA and overall players of the year in the city, connections & players with different prep schools, jc's, and colleges since 1980, team city champs and runner ups for both the PSAL & CHSAA, playground players from NYC and nicknames, best and most talented H.S. teams since 1980, NY Post and Newsday All-City teams (1st and 2nd teams), every high school and their most famous alumni and many other things. Everything on the New York City hoop scene and nothing else. The vast research has taken me 3 years to complete and I can promise you no one has ever attempted anything like this with some much information. It has over 200 pages, but my attempt now is to fit it into a magazine type format just like a basketball yearbook you can get now at the grocery store.'
