Brooklyn All-Stars

My name is Dan Wiatre. I am the coach at St. Edmund Prep H.S. (Brooklyn, NY). My guys are playing local tournaments under the name Brooklyn All-Stars. I have been sending posts in for years to this site.

My 17-U Team is coached by alum Rob Wiatre (class of 2000). Rob played Division 1 college ball at St. Francis College and is a great young coach. He is a future varsity head coach or college coach. My roster is as follows: Cody Gauvard ('08) 6'6 forward,  John Romeo ('08) 6'4 forward, Gage Carter ('08) 5'9 point guard, Perkins Choute ('08) 6'1 forward, Chris Patti ('08) 6'2 wing, John Douglas ('08) 6'0 guard, Jeremy Louison ('08) 6'2 forward, Vinny Marchiano ('10) 6'3 forward, Bobby Beldo ('10) 6'2 guard, James Caffrey ('09) 6'4 forward, P.J. DaFonso ('09) 5'9 guard, and Jamie Thelwell ('09) 6'2 forward.
Gauvard plays inside and out. Romeo, Patti, and Douglas provide perimeter firepower. Carter is our floor general. Louison and Choute are our top rebounders and defenders. Beldo and Marchiano have bright futures and are 2 of the top players in the CHSAA in their class. Caffrey and Thelwell are rebounders/shotblockers and DaFonso is a heady point guard.

All of my seniors, for 2008, are on target to be eligible to compete as freshman in college through the NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE.

We have already played in the Annual Necelina McDonald Tournament and the FUNSPORT H.S. CLASSIC. In June we are scheduled to play in the St. John's University Team Camp, Bishop Ford Team Camp, and Nazareth Team Camp. I am still putting together our schedule for July and August. In the Fall, we will be playing in the GAUCHOS ROUNDBALL TOURNAMENT, IRON MAN TOURNAMENT, and the SHOOT HOOPS NOT GUNS TOURNAMENT at Polytechnic.

The Manhasset "ALLSTARS" Basketball Program is a not for profit organization, which has been in existence since 1998. The program was organized in the summer of 1998 by Sylvester "Sly" Johnson as a four player (11yr old Boys) team to compete in the Long Island Hoop-It-Up tournament. In the summer of 1998, the "ALLSTARS" (four man team) won both Long Island Hoop-It-Up(11yrs and under Boys division) and the New York City Hoop-It-Up (12yrs and under Boys) division. In the fall of 1998, the "ALLSTARS" program expanded to a full team consisting of twelve players to compete in tournament play. "Our vision is to give kids in the neighborhood the opportunity to learn the skills and techniques required to play organized basketball and to recognize the importance of working together, as opposed to individually, toward a common goal. The program's long range goal would not only include boys, but would expand to include girls. The "ALLSTARS" mission is to motivate participants in such a manner that will enable them to excel both academically and athletically. The team is comprised of players from diversified backgrounds: Single parent households, working parents with moderate and low incomes. The "ALLSTARS" will continue to compete in upcoming tournaments in the Bronx, Staten Island, Long Island, Queens and New Jersey.
We are a registered member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
